Auchan enters a new era of e-commerce

Construction has begun on Auchan Polska's ultra-modern, fully robotized logistics center in Wilcza Góra near Warsaw. This is another investment by the network in the most innovative solutions of the e-grocery industry on a global scale, significantly strengthening Auchan's position in this sector in the Polish market.

The Wilcza Center will utilize the latest Ocado Smart Platform solutions, combining advanced automation systems with innovative artificial intelligence algorithms. It is thanks to the application of Ocado's technology that the new distribution center will revolutionize customer service, offering personalized shopping experiences and a range of innovative conveniences.

A wider assortment, accelerated order fulfillment, and higher precision in order picking, minimizing the risk of errors - these are the main benefits for Auchan's e-store customers.

"The development of e-business is one of our strategic directions for growth, which is why we are investing in the most innovative technologies in our industry today, focusing on using solutions offered as part of the Intelligent Ocado Platform that we are systematically introducing. Preparing and implementing such a technologically advanced investment requires choosing partners with particularly high competencies and relevant experience. We can confirm with true satisfaction that we have managed to acquire just such partners for cooperation".

Auchan has decided to once again coordinate the project with its long-term partner, JLL, on matters of location selection and lease agreement negotiations. The new BTS (Build-to-Suit) distribution facility, tailored to the client's individual needs, will be constructed by Panattoni, a leading developer in the real estate market. The architectural concept is the work of the renowned architectural studio Tacakiewicz Ferma Kresek. The project's execution has been entrusted to Golbeck, a company specialized in building modern facilities.

The center itself will have an area of over 18 thousand square meters and will be equipped with intelligent inventory management systems, using machine learning to optimize logistics processes. These solutions are designed not only to accelerate order fulfillment but also to increase product availability and enable online sales expansion.

The project also takes into account ecological aspects. Advanced delivery management and order consolidation systems will contribute to CO2 emission reduction, and the building will obtain a BREEAM environmental certificate at the Excellent level.

Zuzanna Kowalczyk, Director in the Industrial and Warehouse Space Department at JLL, emphasizes the company's key role in this project:

"Our involvement went beyond standard advisory services. We faced the challenge of implementing ultra-modern technical specifications for the facility while adapting to a demanding schedule. The result of our work is the creation of a facility that not only meets Auchan's advanced technical requirements but also optimizes delivery logistics to customers."

The completion of Auchan's distribution center is planned for the second half of 2025, which is expected to open a new chapter in the history of this network's e-commerce in Poland.
